He described his first two months in the country as "chaotic" as he and others felt there wasn't enough time to go to the British embassy and join the foreign legion through official channels. "I managed to get hold of a group of British guys through WhatsApp and TikTok, and by 11 March we were in Lviv," he says. Mr Amin - who spent 13 years in the British military - says he travelled to Ukraine to join the fight against Russia in March 2022 after watching a speech by President Zelenskyy on Instagram.
